The Newly-Renovated Website

Like the Tabernacle, our website has undergone an entire renovation which I hope people will enjoy for years to come (though probably not as long as people will enjoy the Tabernacle). Just a few things about the page for people to know:

Stability
Though it hopefully looks much the same, I have rewritten the entire website. I hope that it’s stabler this way and it should be easier to add in new cool stuff; in the meantime, however, the page may be a little… um… off.
Look around, try stuff out, use the page, but if anything weird happens or if you find that you can somehow make yourself a vice-president or something please let me know. ;-)

Forums
The forums are something of a work-in-progress, but they should work okay for now. Use them how you want, but I’d hope that this is where you can have your zany conversations about super ninja pirate cyber-zombies and stuff.

Blogs
Here is a new feature that I think we’ll all come to love! For the rest of the Internet, blogs have become more than just an online journal – they are a public forums where ideas can be expressed in a spirit of conversation and intelligence. Sort of a like a French salon of the 17th and 18th century (look it up on Wikipedia if you’re thinking of a hairdo-place). I’d hope that the blogs can be where we post up research we’ve done (sort of like mini-lectures) where members of the club can respond to it in a polite and scholastic fashion. If it works, this could be a really good source of accurate medieval information on the internet – how cool would it be to be a part of that?

Appearance
The final thing I’ll say is somewhat selfish, but if you want to have the site look it’s nicest, be sure to use the Mozilla Firefox browser. Microsoft’s Internet Explorer renders portions of the site in bizarre and ugly ways, but Firefox is very nice to it. So use Firefox with the site if you want it to be its best!

Anyways, in closing, if you have comments, concerns, or suggestions, please let me know! I hope the site does well, but that depends on how often and how well we use it as club members.

  1. Well then Hooray for the Blog. And for a website that works also this makes it easier to get a hold of events and such anyway thanks so much Tom

  2. Yeah, so we kinda ran out of money to continue hosting this awesome site I’m talking about here. Perhaps someday it will be revived, but I doubt it. Too bad.

However, I’m grateful for the chance to give my all to the club in this way: I learned a lot about both web programming and about the needs and wants of the club. Basically, the club flows and ebbs. The club has always been surprisingly low-tech when it comes to using web technology, but the future may not be so. Anyways, we currently have this web page which is a whole bunch of free stuff thrown together. We’ll see how well it works, but, for now, I think it’ll work out alright with everyone not being too into the whole “web” aspect of the club.
